About


The event will feature Keynote speaker Mark Mayfield, who is known as the “The Corporate Comedian.” His sessions will offer advice on stress management and humor in the modern workplace. Learn more about Mark here!

The event will also include a Sponsor Silent Auction. Sponsors will contribute an item to be auctioned, with the proceeds supporting The Foster Network, which is a non-profit in Sioux Falls that empowers and supports families who care for foster children placed through a licensing agency.

In addition to the topics above, SDAHO and SDFHMA (with financial support from SD DOH Office of Rural Health Medicare Hospital Flexibility funding) will host Eide Bailly to provide in-person education on the Rural Health Emergency (REH) designation.

Additional Speakers


Tim Rave has served as the President and CEO of SDAHO since 2018. Prior to starting with SDAHO, Rave was the executive director of public policy at Sanford Health. He spent 13 years in the South Dakota legislature where he held a variety of positions, including majority whip in both chambers, speaker pro tempore, speaker of the house and senate majority leader. Rave also worked for 23 years as a paramedic with ground and flight ambulance services as a flight paramedic.

Ralph J. Llewellyn, CPA, CHFP has over 30 years of experience in healthcare finance, leadership, reimbursement and operations. He began his healthcare career as a hospital CFO for a 49-bed hospital with a 116-bed nursing home. Ralph has been with Eide Bailly for more than 25 years and is currently the Partner-in-Charge of Critical Access Hospitals and Healthcare Consulting. He assists providers in strategic planning development, operations leadership, cost report reimbursement, billing compliance, and board education.

Brian F. Bertsch, Principal has more than 25 years of experience helping critical access hospitals, PPS hospitals and other rural providers improve their financial stability. His primary focus is healthcare consulting, working with hospitals on Medicare and Medicaid rules and regulations, preparation and review of Medicare cost reports, chargemaster/cost report reviews, market pricing analysis, and other financial improvement analyses. Brian also provides education to staff, board members and constituents on Medicare reimbursement issues.
